Microsoft.Asp.Net.Identity.Core 2.1.0-alpha1 Not receiving SignInstatus.RequiresValidation although two factor authentication enabled

I do not get the status SignInstatus.RequiresValidation when calling PasswordSignInAsync with twofactor authentication enabled...

Using the sample project from Nuget Microsoft.AspNet.Identity.Samples

Anyone with ideas?

Accountcontroller left as in the sample, twofactorauthentication is registered when creating applicationusermanager
