I have a website that works with a remote database. I made a copy of the remote database, and put it on my local PC, and I can run my website on my local PC with Visual Studio so that it uses either database.
I recently read an article on how to speed up membership stored procedures. One tip is not to query the application table to get its applicationID, but to hard code the ID into a user-function.
So the question is, can I use the same application ID in both the remote database and the local on?. Right now, I examined the application table, and the ID is different in the local database from the remote database. Does that matter? Is the idea just to have a uniqueIdentifier, with the value of that identifier not being significant?
