I have re-invented the wheel with a site that logs people in, gives them different access to pages, and views of different records in the same gridview, and so forth. I should have used asp.net login controls. Now, belatedly, I'm trying to revise my entire site, as painlessly as possible. I've found an online article on membership providers from 2005, but that may be outdated, since it was written 8 years ago. I could buy a book on the topic, or I could try view some tutorials online. Can anyone recommend to me some resources that are really up-to-date, and which concentrate on roles, and not only that, but hierarchies of roles. I would be using form-based authentication, and for now I'm using a shared server.
